Assessing TokenPrint as an optional Hiro inference inspector

Deferred idea documented; no Hiro integration Machine-readable JSON

Executive summary

Reviewed TokenPrint documentation and the local Hiro inference client to assess whether model inspection could complement existing experiment evidence.

A bounded, optional inspection adapter is plausible. Compatibility and diagnostic benefit have not been demonstrated.

Recorded TokenPrint as a deferred idea in the existing Research Map, waiting for suitable GGUF/llama.cpp internals inspection.

Work completed

Source and existing-state review

Read-only assessment
  • Sources: https://github.com/Sudharsanselvaraj/Token-Print and its docs/api.md and docs/architecture.md, accessed September 26, 2026.
  • TokenPrint documents architecture views, token probabilities, recorded traces, attention inspection and intervention APIs, with features varying by backend.
  • Its README explicitly states that the GGUF/llama.cpp path does not expose per-layer activations, and attention weights do not establish causal influence.
  • The inspected Hiro local inference client uses an HTTP chat-completions interface and captures aggregate usage and finish metadata. This interface does not currently collect internal activation tensors.

Durable deferred ideas

Documented
  • Reused research_map.deprioritized in docs/hiro_system_knowledge_base.v1.json; added a stable TokenPrint ID, potential value, exact reconsideration conditions, limitations, source references and decision provenance.
  • Added docs/DEFERRED_IDEAS.md as a navigation and recording guide; no separate store or execution queue.
  • Checked open handoffs for overlap; the existing ranked-autonomy handoff was not executed.

Jev deferred-idea follow-up

Documented
  • Added Jev / TypeSafe AI System One Models to the same Research Map deferred-ideas section at the user's request.
  • Recorded decision provenance, announcement reference, limitations and a separate future-review gate. No upstream compatibility milestone was specified for Jev.
  • Preserved the distinction between the previously reported discovery limitation, the blocked blind replay and unassessed Jev applicability. Original forensic artifacts were not reverified.
  • No external fetch, replay, installation, experiment or production change occurred.

Validation and evidence

CheckStatusResult
Documentation and local code review completed Read upstream README/API/architecture documentation and core/router.py. Upstream capabilities are documented claims, not locally reproduced results.
Integration and performance not_run No package installed, model instrumented, experiment executed, or production configuration changed for this assessment.
Journal validation passed npm run test:hiro passed; npm run build passed, including generated journal validation for 242 entries and frontend compilation.
Deferred research record passed Initial schema validation found missing nullable sha256 fields in new sources; corrected them, then validated all source schemas, deferred source references and inclusion through the existing Markdown research export.
Jev deferred record passed Validated source schemas, source references and inclusion in the existing research Markdown export.
